Grayscale Picture Engraving Demo on Wood with RDWorks CO2 Laser Cutting and Engraving Machine
In this video, we show you how to do a grayscale picture engraving on wood with an RDWorks CO2 Laser Cutting and Engraving Machine. This process involves using a CO2 laser machine equipped with engraving capabilities to burn the wood in varying degrees, creating shades of grey that form the image.
Laser engraving is a cutting-edge technology that offers a myriad of benefits. Its exceptional precision and accuracy allow for intricate designs on various materials, while its non-contact process ensures safety for delicate surfaces. Versatile and efficient, laser engraving works on wood, metal, glass, and more, with minimal waste and quick turnaround times. The permanence of its markings ensures long-lasting durability, making it a preferred choice for personalized items and industrial applications. From custom gifts to industrial production, laser engraving stands out as a versatile, high-quality, and environmentally friendly solution.
We start by preparing the image. We need to download the ImagR software. In the software, we resize the image and then adjust the material that we will be engraving on. Since we are doing a grayscale engraving, we need to adjust the brightness, and then download the image. From there, we copy the image onto a flash drive and import the image into the CO2 cabinet laser.
We now open RDWorks on our computer. In the software, we need to differentiate, with colours, which areas will be engraved and which areas will be cut. Watch in the video how we do this. Once we have applied the settings correctly, we can download the file.
We are now ready to move to the control panel of the CO2 Laser Cutting and Engraving Machine. We use the interface to find the file and open it. We then frame it to see if the laser will cut in the correct area on the bed.
Once we are happy the framing is correct, we can place our material on the bed. We then need to set the height of the laser using our spacer. We are now ready to engrave onto the material.
The end result of the greyscale engraving is fantastic, and with this skill, you can perform many different kinds of laser engraving!
