Printhead Installation Steps, Epson XP600 Printhead Installed on UV Ink Dampers Demonstrated

If you have bought a new head for your Epson XP600 Large Format Printer or if you have removed the head to transport the printer, you are going to need to install the head. Let's take you through the process of what needs to be done. This can be watched in the video!

The first step is to turn on the machine and move the head into the middle of the machine, and then turn the machine off. Now you need to plug in the cables into the head, making sure to match the pins to the head. You will notice that the cables have tape on them, to prevent any ink that may be in the head from running out. Once the cable is attached, screw it in place. We added some masking tape over the connections point for extra peace of mind.

Now you can place the head onto the printer and plug it in. You will notice that there are four slots and these need to be aligned with the holes on the head. Please don't overtighten the screws. Once the head is in place, give the head a slight nudge to see that it is secure. Also, check that the head is level.

You are now ready to place the dampers on. You may need to move the head to do this. The ink needs to be placed into the dampers, and it is handy to have tissues at hand so that ink spillage does not get into the circuitry. Every damper needs to be filled and plugged into the head. The damper should be pointed downwards to ensure that when you pull the ink, the damper is filled and not the syringe. Once you see a little bit of ink in the syringe, you can plug in the damper. It is useful to have a bottle to deposit the ink in the syringe before you do the next colour, so not to mix colours.

Please note that if you are dealing with a new installation, it will take a bit longer to pull the ink into the dampers.
