How to Safely Remove Printhead for Long Holiday or Transportation Demonstrated on FastCOLOUR XP600
If you are going away on holiday and your Large Format Printer will be standing for a while without being used or imagine you are transporting your Printer long distances and you would like to remove your Printhead to ensure that it doesn't get damaged? Then you will need to know how to safely remove your Printhead. In this video, we demonstrate the process of removing a Printhead on a FastCOLOUR XP600 Large Format Printer.
To get started, you will need a tissue row, some cleaning pipes, a cup, insulation tape, Epson shipping liquid, cleaning solution, Printhead case and a pipe.
First, you need to take the dampers off the Printhead. To avoid leakages, use a piece of tissue rolled in a ball with insulation tape, and then plug the dampers mouth to seal it closed. This process must be completed with all the dampers.
Now take your ink pipes and plug them into each dampers nipple. Next, we use to use the cup with the cleaning solution to empty the ink from the dampers. Dunk the pipes into the cup and then using the display on the machine, access the maintenance option. In the options, scroll down to Inking and select this mode. You will notice that the cleaning solution gets pulled out of the cup through the pipes. Once all of the cleaning solution has gone through the head, the next step is to run the Wipe Nozzle mode.
We are now ready to use the Epson Shipping liquid. Squeeze about 20ml into the cup, and place the pipes into the cup again, scroll down to inking again and run the mode. Once the liquid has run through, run the Wipe Nozzle mode again. Now you can fold the pipes to stop the pressure should there be any liquid left in the pipes, and then pull out the pipes.
