Engraving on metal can be a tad bit problematic cause it has a reflective surface. When you use laser it will bounce back, reflect onto itself and eventually damage the tube.
The only successful way in which you can mark metal using a C02 laser engraver machine is by using a laser marking solution such as thermal liquid before the application. You have to apply the marking solution on the metal before processing it with a laser engraving and cutting machine. Let it dry first before it gets burned into the substrate in the course of the laser process. When the process of laser engraving is concluded, the residue left behind from the marking paste has to be cleaned off the metal plate with a paintbrush and dipped into water.
The great thing about AM’s Thermo-K Liquid is that it is re-usable. The residue of the thermal ink can be recollected and re-applied.
