Measure Each Tool Length for EasyRoute ATC CNC Router with Built-in Automatic Tool Presetter
We’ve officially set the coordinate systems for our tool holders—great news! But before we can actually start cutting, there’s one last step: calibrating each tool. The good news? This process is even simpler than the one we just completed.
Once your Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) is set up correctly on your EasyRoute CNC Router, it doesn’t just know where your tools are stored—it also keeps track of the exact length of each one. That’s where tool height calibration comes in.
Step 1: Access the Calibration Menu
You can get to the calibration process in two ways:
Navigate through the Menu → Operation Parameters, or
Use the quicker method—simply hold Shift + 6 on the keypad.
This shortcut takes you directly to the tool calibration screen.
Step 2: Measure Your First Tool
For demonstration, we’ll measure just one tool. You can, however, measure all of your tool holders in a single session.
The machine will lower the tool toward the probe, lift slightly, and then work its way down gradually.
If you get a Z height error, it might be because the mobile sensor isn’t “awake.” Simply return to the home position, press the sensor to activate it, and restart the process.
Step 3: Let the Probe Do Its Job
The tool will press down on the probe to record its length. You can adjust the probe’s position if needed, and there’s also a way to reset its location entirely.
Once the measurement is complete, the screen will confirm: “Tool has been set successfully.” Now, the ATC knows the exact length of that tool.
Step 4: Repeat for All Tools
After the first tool is calibrated, cycle through the rest of your tools. For each one:
Select the tool number you want to calibrate.
Press Shift + 6 for the shortcut.
Choose Single Measure.
Repeat until all tools are measured.
After a bit of rinse-and-repeat, you’ll have completed the full calibration. Now, your ATC is fully aware of the position and height of every tool in the changer. In other words, you’re officially ready to start cutting!
